Dr. Martens - Back to the Future!

I was kindly invited to visit the new Dr. Martens shop in Bristol last Saturday and what ultimate coolness it is.  Apart from taking me back to my school days, it also brought me forward and opened my eyes to the amazing new ranges and styles they now have. The shop is like a jar of sweets. The colours and textures all jump out at you and you just want one of everything! You can’t help but pick the shoes up and feel them, the studs, the velvet textures and the eye catching patent. It is also the Best of British quality brand that is so appealing and their Made in England classic range proves to be forever popular.
Growing up I always knew the classic DM boot wasn’t for me, everyone else looked great in them but being little, well I just looked like Mini Mouse. The staff are fantastic in the store and I was recommended to try on a selection of boots for the complete DM experience  and was told I had to try the classic DM boot in Oxblood. I couldn’t resist trying them on. I absolutely love them and as you can see in the photo below, they didn’t look too ridiculously big on my little legs. I just think I am more suited to smaller boots with a heel. That is when I tried on the Roni boots in Oxblood from the ultra feminine Zita collection, they were just perfect! They looked great on and were so comfortable, even though they are high heels, they still have the air-cushioned sole Dr. Martens is famous for. They are definitely the DM boot for me!
This is what I love about Dr. Martens, they have something for everybody. I love their wide selection, they even do wellies! Perfect for festival time!
You must also check out the Dr. Martens leather satchels! They also come in all different mouthwatering colours, with or without studs, patent or matt …..they are simply timeless.

Black Hats!

Ok so I have a slight obsession with black hats at the moment, which is no surprise as there are heaps out there at the moment.
I have just bought a black floppy fedora hat from H&M and I love it! Trouble is now I want to start collecting different styles.
I just wanted to put together my top faves on the high street at the moment for you, I hope you like my choice. Other places to look are Marks and Spencers and Debenhams, they are both doing a wide selection of all different colours and styles.
I am also loving the chunky head bands around at the mo too, both H&M and Urban Outfitters do them, they look great!

Dip Dyed Hair!

I took these photos in the car, on the way up to London for a party. I had just had my hair dip dyed and as you can see I was chuffed to bits with the outcome. I am now addicted to dip dye. My colourist Abbie (from Melanie Giles in Bath) suggested I had it more subtle to start with but at a later stage if you fancy you can intensify it and have  a more contrasty effect. I was told you have to be careful not to make the ends too dry though by having it done too much. Because my hair is long and thick and usually all one colour, it gives it more of a lift. I am very happy with it and can’t believe I haven’t done it sooner. The dip dye is an interesting process, I thought you literally dipped your hair in a bucket of dye but that isn’t the case, firstly my hair was back combed all over and then the bleach was applied to the ends. It is an Aveda salon so she always uses Aveda colour on my hair, as well as all the gorgeous smelling shampoos and conditioners. At home I can’t live without the Aveda Brilliant emollient finishing gloss, it tames my unruly locks.
My top fave products at the moment for hair care are in the photo below. I use Aveda Shampure shampoo and Aveda Smooth Infusion conditioner to wash my hair. After I have washed it and it is still wet I work either smooth infusion glossing straightener into my hair right down to the roots or I use Macadamia healing oil treatment (another staple favourite of mine). After blow drying and using my ghd straighteners I smooth any frizzy or wispy bits with the Aveda Brilliant gloss ,which I keep in my handbag at all times incase of any mad frizzy moments during the day.

Happy Dip Dying!

Christmas at Highgrove!

It was a festive night at the Highgrove shop Christmas launch event in Bath last Monday night. We were able to preview all their new luxury Christmas gifts and really felt in the true British Christmas spirit!
One thing I do have to highlight are the stunning Christmas decorations dressing the shop, designed by Shane Connolly himself. Shane Connolly designed the flowers for the Royal wedding! You must go and take a look, his garlands and window display are beautiful!
There is something for everyone in the Highgrove shop and all gifts are hand made by skilled craftspeople. Everything caught my eye and I walked around the shop over and over again finding gifts for all the family, but as usual I am always attracted to anything I can wear. I do however have a small candle obsession and the cinnamon and spice candle they had burning in the shop smelt amazing. They also sell a diffuser, potpourri and a room spray of the same smell…….yummy!

Here are my top picks below:

They sell beautiful cashmere socks (Knitted in Scotland) in different colours as seen in the photo below which you can buy with or without a cosy knitted hot water bottle cover which I also love.

They also do Corgi long wool blend socks (‘using traditional hand manufactured methods dating back to 1892, Corgi were the first company granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment’) They are great for wellies and the Christmassy Fair isle ones for curling up in front of the fire.
The jewellery is unique and beautifully handmade including little bumble bees inspired by the English country garden (handmade in Somerset) and Wren birds which are a frequent visitor to the English garden (handmade in Sussex). Prices do range, whether you have a ribbon tie or a silver chain, bracelet or earrings.

Don’t forget to grab yourself a cinnamon and spice Highgrove candle, it smells amazing! My house is already feeling Christmassy! Also add a traditional Highgrove hanging tree decoration to your collection, I have the red robin. You must take a look at The Highgrove shop website, I love the way each item has a brief description of where and how it was made making each item unique and special.

So go on you too can spend a traditional Christmas at Highgrove!

Boux Avenue Comes to Bristol!

Cloe Lace set in Grey

Check Pyjama Pants and Floral Vest

I am really excited another Boux Avenue has been added to the collection! This time it is opening at Cabot Circus in Bristol on the 13th September. I am smitten with this shop. When it opened in Bath I was drawn in by the eye catching colours and styles. I especially love the grey Chloe balconette bra set shown above or the yellow plunge bra set they do, the 'Chloe lace plunge bra'. I even bought my Summer bikini from Boux, the 'Aruba boost multiway'. Having a smaller bust I just love the padded bras and the padded bikinis they do (I have often owned padded bras which I have wished were a bikini for the shape). 'Boux Avenue focuses on sizing options that range from 30A to 40H and from 6 to 20.' The owner Theo Paphitis is launching his thirteenth UK Boux Avenue store. ' The glamorous label will set lingerie lovers' hearts racing with it's sultry styles and flirtatious fabrics - making it an irresistible lingerie, nightwear and swimwear haven for Bristol shoppers.' Underwear which is fashionable, pretty, girly and affordable is what makes Boux Avenue so popular. The nightwear is also irresistible and will be on my Christmas list for sure. I have already put together my wish list which also includes their girly gifts and beauty products. They do a mini bra and knickers scented drawer sachet which I think is really sweet. Check out my top picks:

So go take a look when it opens and I promise you won't be disappointed!

Benefit Beauties!

After going on holiday with my best mate and trying out her Benefit make-up, I couldn't wait to add it to my make-up collection. I have always been attracted to the eye catching packaging and have finally been converted. I firstly loved the product 'Brow zings'! Wow, it is heaps better than the pencil and brush I usually use. It is way more natural, it just blends perfectly. You use the soft wax using the angled brush to shape and define and then use the powder to fill in using the other brush. Even comes with a mini pair of tweezers! I just love this product, I have at last got perfect brows! Each Benefit product comes with instructions on how to use it so you can't go wrong.

I was also after a concealer that actually conceals dark circles and red patches. I have battled with all sorts of makes of concealer and have finally found the one! I couldn't believe that it actually completely gets rid of any bluey dark circles under the eyes. I was recommended the 'Perk Up Artist' complexion corrector!  It comes with three compartments, a corrector to neutralise red blemishes, a cover for dark circles and a brightener for the corners of your eyes to brighten tired eyes and give you an instant lift. At last no more red blemishes and dark circles!
I was also given this complimentary facial cream also to try out and it smells gorgeous, I put it on before I went to sleep last night and woke up with skin feeling really soft and hydrated. I wouldn't use it straight before you apply your make-up as it is very rich and needs time to soak into the skin, so before bed is perfect. Tessa was my beauty artist at House of Fraser in Bath (Jolly's) and couldn't have been more helpful advising me on the best product for what I needed it for and which would be best for my colouring. She even gave me a lesson on how to use the products.

Drop into your nearest Benefit Brow Bar for an instant make over! You don't even have to make an appointment. My nearest Bar is at Boots or Debenhams in Bath. Find your nearest one on the Benefit website. Also follow the Benefit Blog!

STUDS U LIKE

Shirt - Bershka
Denim Skirt - H&M
Shoes - Bershka

I am obsessed with studs at the moment and there is certainly no shortage of them in the shops, they are on everything! These were my purchases in Barcelona from one of my new found fave shops Bershka. Go check them out now if you haven't already heard of them, you will definitely find something you like. I knew I wanted to buy a white, studded collared shirt but when I saw these red slipper shoes I just had to buy them! I am always attracted to red shoes and I just love the smaller gold studs on them. My denim skirt is about 7 years old from H&M but it is a staple in my wardrobe and I love wearing it with this crisp white shirt. I will follow this look through to Autumn swapping the skirt for some skinny blue jeans.
Don't forget to go check out Bershka!

Neon Lights - Barcelona

Neon Top - H&M
Black Shorts - H&M
Belt - Vintage (The Yellow Shop in Bath)
Sandals - Moda in Pelle
Bag - Warehouse
Jewellery - Vintage
Silver and Gold nail varnish - Topshop

Here is another of my outfits I wore in Barcelona. I don't usually wear clothes this bright but I am really attracted to the neon colours in the shops right now and they are great for summer holidays! I love the lace side panelling. I teamed my neon top with black shorts and my gold vintage belt for a contrasty look. I love these sandals I am wearing, I bought them two years ago in Moda in Pelle but every summer they return in the shop and you can get them in all different colours. They are a staple summer sandal, I especially love the patent black and snake skin effect. I like how versatile this outfit is, swap the flat sandals for some heels and with the gold accessories you are ready for a big night out!
Here is my favourite bag again, I promise I will use another bag in my next blog ;-)
It was IL scorchio today, I was able to wear my new shoes from Barcelona at last, makes a change from my wellies. Check out my next blog on my Barcelona purchases!

Barcelona - how can I forget

Top - Stradivarius (Barcelona)
Shorts - Topshop
Sandals - Office
Bag - Warehouse
Watch - Michael Kors

This blog has taken a lot longer than expected after being knocked down with a bug, but I'm back and can't wait to show you my outfits I wore in Barcelona and my shopping finds from the beautiful city.
Firstly Barcelona is a shoppers paradise! After discovering their high street stores Bershka and Stradivarius I was hooked. I wanted one of everything in both shops. If you want something a little different and affordable these two are my favourite shops. Keep an eye out for my blog on the clothes I purchased in Bershka.
I took a lot of shorts with me to Barcelona but I think these are my favourites from Topshop. I love the shade of green and especially love them with a cream top I bought in Stradivarius. I am loving the detailed cream and white tops around at the moment which I will definitely be carrying through to Autumn by wearing them with jeans. Teamed with my chunky sandals from Office I was set for the hot summer night. One of my best purchases this summer was my little green bag from Warehouse, I think you will have noticed by now that it tends to crop up in my blogs a fair bit :-) I just love the gold chain strap and quilted front. I also like to wear the two shades of green together.
I can't recommend Barcelona enough, sun, sea, sand, architecture and of course the fabulous shopping! It is a perfect trip away if you want a holiday that has everything.

A Night at The Francis

 Dress - Aubin&Wills
Shoes - New Look
Bag - Warehouse

Well here is my other Aubin & Wills dress and what a function for its debut, The Francis Hotel launch party in Bath. I have to say the pure silk felt beautiful and I just love the burnt orange colour with the white peter pan collar. It felt traditional and elegant (Just the dress for sipping Earl Grey tea accompanied with cucumber sandwiches). I teamed it with my tan New Look wedges (Which you don't see me out of at the moment.) and my dark green Warehouse Chanel-esque handbag.

The Francis Hotel in Bath is now part of the MGallery Collection by Accor and the transformation is outstanding. The interior design is rich and elegant with eye catching eclectic touches. This in no way takes away the traditional Regency feel of the hotel, but compliments it beautifully. Surrounded by luxurious velvet and silk fabrics, bold elegant prints; little did I know that it was such an ideal setting for wearing my silk dress.

If you haven't already seen the transformation, get your pretty dresses on and go and visit The Francis, right in the heart of Bath. Treat yourself to a chic afternoon tea in the glamorous drawing room, experience an exquisite meal at the famous Raymond Blanc's Brasserie Blanc or simply relax with a cocktail in the lounge. If you are lucky enough to stay at The Francis check out the paintings in your room, I will say no more ;-)

Thanks to the Francis Hotel and Megan Dacey @ Grayling. Also to Aubin & Wills for such an elegant dress to wear. A traditional dress in a traditional setting :-)

Rain Rain Go Away

Dress - Aubin & Wills
Raincoat - H&M
Wedges - New Look
Ring - Topshop

I am writing this blog while the sunshine is beaming through the window. Oh well, I thought I would be waiting forever to shoot these photos if I waited for the sun to come out, so I went ahead and did it in the pouring rain yesterday. Still clinging to the Jubilee celebrations and still attracted to the red, white and blue colours, I love this nautical striped dress, courtesy of Aubin & Wills. Stripes are still big this summer and were unmissable on the spring/summer catwalk. I love the elasticated waist and the dropped pockets and most of all how versatile it is. In my shots I have teamed it with my H&M raincoat and New Look wedges but pair it with a blue blazer and killer heals for a smart occasion or wear it with a pair of white pumps or flip flops for a picnic in the park or a trip to the great British seaside. I wouldn't usually feel the need to mention the comfort factor of an item of clothing but this dress is 100% cotton and so soft.
So if you haven't discovered Aubin & Wills already go check them out today for that classic 'Best of British' style and you will be hooked like me.
Have a great rest of the weekend and enjoy the tennis!
